Research:
Current research is focused in the field of micropaleontology (calcareous nannoplankton) in
order to provide the age of the sediments and the paleoecological conditions in which these
sediments were deposited, contributing to the local, regional and global correlations. It is well
known that the calcareous nannoplankton is a very useful tool in sediments dating, beginning
with Triassic until recent, due to their good preservation, widespread distribution and a very
large number of specimens. Moreover, this group can be correlated with some other fossils
groups (foraminifera, bivalves, fish fauna, marine vertebrates) bringing together much clearer
evidence of the earth’s geological past.
