Research
Dr. Dorina Podar is investigating the molecular and biochemical mechanisms of tolerance to environmental stress, especially to heavy metals, in plants. Her research focuses on metal ion transporters involved in plant nutrition and resistance or tolerance to heavy metals, assessment of microorganisms biodiversity within plant rhizosphere growing on soils contaminated with heavy metals or organic compounds, evaluation of the phyto- / bioremediation potential of plants and microorganisms associated with their rhizosphere. She is also using plant anatomy as a method of analysing plant biodiversity.
