Research:
My PhD thesis focuses on the evaluation of free-living marine nematode communities as bioindicators, by means of integrated biochemical, taxonomic and ecological approaches.

We plan to classify individuals from a characterize these communities from a classical taxonomic perspective in conjunction with molecular taxonomy techniques. From a biochemical perspective, we would like to test their resilience and response to oxidative stress, their capacity to metabolize various chemical compounds, and their ability to accumulate them, as well as other materials (heavy metals and microplastics). From an ecological perspective, nematodes seem to be promising bioindicators, therefore, this research will investigate the influence of anthropogenic factors on nematode communities along the Black Sea Romanian coast, comparing populations from anthropic areas to those from more pristine locations, using seasonal sampling.
