His research attempts to address questions related to the post-glacial history of alpine species and ecosystems, patterns of species distributions, and continent-wide patterns of phylogenetic community structure and botanical richness and endemicity. His primary research areas are the Carpathians and the temperate European mountains. He is the director of A.
