The re-opening and re-foundation of the Emil G. Racoviță Institute for the Study of Life in Extreme Conditions (Emil G. Racoviță Institute/IEGR) takes place on November 24, 2020. Because of the pandemic conditions, only the Board will be present in the Aula Magna of the Babeș-Bolyai University (UBB) and/or the official Headquarter of the Institute, the other members and guests participating by Microsoft Teams. The speaking guests have been selected to reflect the history of the Institute: (1) the UBB Rector (Professor Ph.D., Daniel David); (2) the representative of the Ministry of Education and Research (Secretary of State for Research, Professor, Ph.D., Dragoș Ciuparu); (3) the president of the Romanian Academy (Professor, Ph.D., Ioan-Aurel Pop); and (4) other IERG researchers involved in the re-foundation of the Institute in the university (some of them related to the family of Emil G. Racoviță). The event will be live on the UBB YouTube channel and UBB Facebook.
